Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster LP640

Photoshoot

The BULL

In 1879, A Navarra fighting bull fought so valiantly against matador Rafael Molina "Lagartiio" in which the Bull received more than 25 sword strikes before the crowd around it called for the Bull's life to be spared.

The Bull's name - Murciélago which means "Bat" in Spanish, and this Nero Aldebaran Black paints that picture.

heartbeat

This LP640 holds a monstrous 6.5L V12 that produces 631 BHP and 487 LB/FT of torque which screams an indescribable sound. This engine however, holds a lot of history and actually goes back to the beginning of Lamborghini Automobili. In 1963, when Mr. Ferruccio Lamborghini set out to create a rival against Ferrari, he hired Italian Engineer Giotto Bizzarrini. His mission - creating a V12 that would compete with Ferrari, and he completed this task but the 3.5L V12 was considered too powerful for road use in 1963.

The transformation over the years of the engine turned it from a 3.5L V12 to eventually the 6.5L V12 in this Murciélago, which is considered to be the last true Lamborghini because the Bizzarrini V12 design retired with the Murciélago in 2010.

Bat Wings

Remember at the beginning, I stated that Murciélago means "Bat" in Spanish? These cooling vents are often referred to as "Bat Wings" but they personally remind me of a Fighter Jet. Since the V12 gets so extremely hot the vents will raise to cool the engine, funnelling air down into the rear mounted V12. A very Aesthetically pleasing feature as well as an iconic and unique look specific to the Murciélago only!

Angled seats

Black Leather with the Yellow "Q-Citura" stitching creates this beautiful diamond pattern within the interior! The seats as you might notice, the seats are more so in a "V" formation. The sides of the body were curving inwards, the wheel arches protrude into the cockpit and the steering mechanism had to be short and direct for immediate reaction. Given the space inside, they had to install the steering column at a slight angle and the seats had to follow suit, creating another little quirky detail.

Ending statement

When you hear the name Lamborghini, what comes to mind first? Loud? Powerful? Raw? Ruthless? Combine all those thoughts into one automobile and you have the Lamborghini Murciélago LP-640 (and this is a roadster so RIP to your ears). All the predecessors to the Murciélago built by Lamborghini led up to this beautiful machine. The owner never test drove this Bull before he purchased it, only had sat in a Murciélago once before but still made the purchase. He's a very passionate owner who opened my eyes to the history of Lamborghini and is willing to share his passion with the rest of the car community. The car has not changed him, but he cruises around every Sunday morning because a car is meant to be driven.
