"Quartz" Dynamic & Lightweight Study by Singer #19/75

"Our ongoing mission is to create the ultimate, enduring collection of iconic design". Singer Group specializes in restoring, or in their words, Reimagining the 1989 to 1994 Porsche 911's based off of the 964 chassis. Created in 2009, Singer currently has three different studies, meaning three different designs and restoration models of the older 911's. Those three consist of the original "Classic Study", the "Turbo Study" and the beautiful piece of art we will be talking about today which is the "Dynamics & Lightweight Study". A question was asked "What if Singer evolved that iconic Porsche DNA further, using knowledge born from the world of Formula One" and the aftermath was the DLS. Are you intrigued now? Let's dive in.

Forged magnesium


Singer collaborated with several different companies in order to create the amazing final product. BBS wheels stepped up in creating a forged magnesium wheel which weighs essentially nothing and Michelin designed a bespoke Cup-2 Tire strictly for the Design & Lightweight Study.

Williams F1 Engineering collaborated in creating a 500 BHP, 9300 RPM Air Cooled Engine. 4 sodium filled titanium valves per cylinder which is a first for a road going Air cooled Porsche. Twin Injectors, Magnesium & Carbon Fibre components, with a calculated top speed of 210 MPH.

Subtle yet beautiful design allowed for several vents throughout the body where cooling is amplified. Behind the cockpit windows, this vent is directed towards cooling the engine, under the headlights there are vents that are sent to cool the Bespoke Brembo Brakes and it's all these details that add up to the DLS.

WHY "QUARTZ" DLS?


The specification process for a vehicle of this caliber is limitless, an amount of discipline has to be applied while selecting all the options offered. While bouncing between the potential specs, with the help of his wife he chose this "grey" from a 1950's Classic Mini. The existence of this DLS, this specific commission would not have been possible without his business behind it. This allowed him to get to the point of ordering a Singer DLS and this is where the true meaning of Quartz comes from. With a Chemical's Manufacturing business started by his father, he was able to take the company in a direction that would end up producing silicone rubber. In order to create this product, it starts from a form of rocks, but not just any type of rock. Are you able to guess which rock this might be? A pure form of Quartz is needed. Singer also offers the choice of accent colour or bright work, which was around 8 options. The chosen colour was a Satin Champagne which is seen on the handles, fuel caps, interior details, centrelocks and more. The Owner came to this decision by researching into older textbooks at the office, and he came across Native Gold, which are gold crystals that want to grow on quartz rocks and the closest option to this Native gold was a Satin Champagne.


In a Documentary filmed & produced by Project1, the owner goes into detail about the story behind attaining and customizing his QUARTZ DLS Commission which is Chassis 19/75 and is a must watch. Rob Dickinson is the Founder/Creator of Singer vehicle design, and he is the embodiment of what life is about. "The meaning of life is three words, fulfill your potential. On the dedication plaque placed within the DLS it states "This 1989 PORSHE 911 REIMAGINED BY SINGER commemorates Quartz and its myriad derivative applications that have driven the ongoing fulfillment of our collective and individual potentials. Fulfill Your Potential." It's a beautiful piece of art that gets your heart pumping, adrenaline racing and that's with every time you hit the road. It's a Porsche that has transformed and realized its maximum potential into the best Porsche 911 it could possibly be, it is unrecognizable. Relatable to life, you can remain alike everyone else, or you can realize your full potential so that by the end you don't have any what if's. Rewire your inner workings, the way you think and work out your body into the best shape you can be and realize your own full potential, just like this 964 911.
